One of most frequent concerns we get with this feature is that a user's work will be overwritten. In the current implementation, if a user has provided their own alt-text for an image, it will get replaced by the AI-generated alt-text. We would like to give preference to the human-curated alt-text, since it is more likely to be accurate.
Ideally, there would be a flag on the generate alt-text feature that could be manually turned off for those that do not wish to use generative-AI for the alt-text, and it would default to off for images that already have alt-text provided, so nothing gets overwritten.
