We should test the site before deploying it, either manually, or with the help of link checkers/UI tests, etc.

Do you mean something like link-checker (last change 2013!, but there are seemingly maintained forks like this one) ? Should we set up GitHub Actions for that?

We could even do Travis + metacity + "proper" cross-browser GUI tests.
