Authoritative replacement for removed 2015 OSSOS Deep_Surveys characterization files #23

Description

@linomx90

Hello — I’m auditing inputs for a reproducible, survey-forward use of the complete characterized OSSOS sample.

What I can verify:

  • The current surveys branch (126d5281b69bd632f41c8cd5e144f4a6db90ec95) lists only 2013A-E, 2013A-O, 2013B-L, and 2014B-H in Surveys/OSSOS.list.
  • Commit eaeef46 added Deep_Surveys with 2015 AM/AP/BS/BT/BC/BD efficiency, pointing, and detection files.
  • Commit 9a84f67 removed that directory ten days later with the message “Removing bad directory.” I will not use those withdrawn files without maintainer confirmation.
  • Our parse finds 607 later-component rows in the withdrawn Deep_Surveys_v11.detections versus 605 in the published CDS catalog; the two extra IDs are o5c114 and o5t58.

Could you please clarify:

  1. Is there an authoritative, stable public URL, tag, or commit for the complete 2015 AM/AP/BS/BT/BC/BD efficiency files and pointings?
  2. What was wrong with the withdrawn directory, and which files supersede it?
  3. Which detection catalog and block/component mapping should accompany those selection files, including the status of o5c114 and o5t58?
  4. Does the repository’s EUPL-1.1 notice also cover redistribution of the characterization and detection data, or is there a separate data license?
  5. Which SurveySimulator commit and citations should be pinned for a compatibility/parity test?

Once the authoritative bundle is identified, we can preserve stable URLs, byte counts, and SHA-256 hashes. Related issue #4 discusses .eff organization and pointings.list mechanics; this request is specifically about completeness, withdrawal provenance, and licensing.

Our detailed audit trail and acceptance criteria are recorded in JX issue #8, with the parent G0 status in issue #12. This is provenance work only; no observational analysis or large simulation is authorized.

Thank you for maintaining and publishing these resources.
