ArcExplorer not launching

Was using it last night just fine, but when I woke up it randomly refused to launch. Deleted it and redownloaded it, and the issue is persisting. Any ideas as to what I could do to fix this?

Can you upload the log.txt? If you're on windows, you can type %localappdata%\ArcExplorer into the address bar in file explorer to open the right folder.

There don't seem to be any issues in the log. Do you get any error when launching ArcExplorer.exe from cmd.exe or windows terminal?

If you open the folder with arcexplorer in it and type cmd in the address bar, it should open a new window. Type ArcExplorer.exe and hit enter. If you can take a screenshot of the error, that would be helpful.

Thanks for testing that. If it's not giving any errors, it's unlikely to be something I can fix on my end. There are a lot of issues that can cause a program to not launch like antivirus software, conflicts with other programs, etc. I'll leave this issue open for now in case anyone has a similar problem.

Well, it has been about a year and ArcExplorer still isn't working on this computer. Recently, I wanted to try fixing it again, so I looked into windows event viewer and I got the following data. If this helps narrow down what may be causing the crash, I'd still like to be able to use it on this computer.

That error doesn't contain any useful information. Do you have any other errors in event viewer like .net runtime errors? You would need to be familiar with debugging .net applications with visual studio to narrow down what's causing the crash.

I can do that if need be. I'm a software engineer. I was just trying to avoid cloning the repo since I don't want to do a lot of programming after work, but I can if that's whats gonna help

If you can reproduce and get a screenshot of the error in the visual studio debugger, that would be helpful. I would expect it to be a crash in the native Rust smash_arc.dll since the application crashes without any error message or logged exception. There may also be something funky going on in the C# code during application initialization. You'll need the Rust toolchain installed because the submodule is built from source. I may able to figure out what might be causing the crash from there. I don't expect anyone else to go through the code or submit any PRs with potential fixes.
