What happened?

I installed typetype via the install script. But every Video get me instant an error 500

I recreated a fresh stable installation with the all-in-one script and tested real playback in Chromium, Firefox and WebKit, but I couldn't reproduce the HTTP 500.

Could u retry one affected video and share:

• the exact video URL;
• the response from the failed /api/streams/youtube/sabr request in the browser Network tab;
• the output of this command, run immediately after the error:

docker compose logs --since 10m typetype-server typetype-token

Please keep the requestId visible if one appears. It will let me find the exact failing request and fix the correct path instead of guessing.

Thx, these logs help! The Server itself starts correctly, but both YouTube search and suggestions are returning 422. Could u run this command and share the complete output?

This should expose the actual extraction error returned by YouTube. Right now the logs only contain the HTTP status, so I cannot yet tell whether the instance IP is being rejected or whether something else is failing.

If YouTube is rejecting the outgoing IP, I recommend using a clean IPv6 exit if one is available, or trying Cloudflare WARP. I have seen other self-hosters get around similar YouTube restrictions with WARP, but I have not tested it myself, so I cannot guarantee it will solve the problem.

That helps, thx! This does not look like a YouTube rate limit. The www.youtube.com error usually means the Server container cannot resolve the hostname.

Could u run:

Since this started after restarting the VM, please also try:

docker compose restart typetype-server typetype-token

If DNS resolution still fails afterward, the VM or Docker DNS configuration needs to be fixed. IPv6 or WARP would only be useful if DNS works and YouTube then rejects the outgoing IP.

Nice, thx for confirming! It was most likely a temporary DNS or network state inside the containers after the VM restart, rather than a YouTube rate limit.

If it happens again, please send the failed response and the Server logs before restarting the containers so I can trace the exact cause.

Yeah I think I figured it out, my DHCP gives the VM after every restart my local DNS again. Seems I fixed this issue. But one thing, is it normal that I need to login again after every new start of the app?
