Description

On my secondary display, a lot of the time the ice bar will just appear on a very small scale that I can't even tell what the icons are. And sometimes when I click into the ice bar on either of my displays, it is absolutely massive, about seven times the size of what it usually is. this only happened in Tahoe

Thanks for the detailed breakdown — this looks exactly like the mixed-scale case you described.

Displays: Built-in Liquid Retina XDR (Apple M5, M-series) + a 16" external (FlipAction16) over USB-C. So it's built-in Retina @ 2x + external @ 1x, not two identical externals.

Scale factors / config: I couldn't run the NSScreen.screens.map snippet (my Command Line Tools are on an older Swift toolchain than the macOS 26.2 SDK, so swift won't compile right now), but system_profiler SPDisplaysDataType gives the same picture:

• Built-in (Color LCD, main): Resolution 3024 x 1964 Retina → backingScaleFactor 2.0
• External (FlipAction16): Resolution 2048 x 1280, "UI Looks like" 2048 x 1280 @ 120Hz, no Retina flag → backingScaleFactor 1.0

So native == logical on the external (1x) while the built-in is 2x — the exact mismatch direction you flagged.

Persist after unplug/replug? it does stay borken after unplugging and replugging

Happy to grab anything else that'd help narrow it to the window-frame path vs. the CGImage-capture path.
