Not working with Desktop .NET Framework 4.8 in VS 2020

Hi there,

I have created a simple project that has a winforms app and two class libs all using .NET 4.8.
I have added ILRepack.Lib.MSBuild.Task to the winforms probject and added a basic target file and props file.
When I build in both debug and release mode the merge is not done.
What am I doing wrong?

Ok I think I have it working. I have been able to confirm with ILSpy that the DLLs are getting compiled into the exe.
I think the issue was that I used a target file example I was using had TargetKind="SameAsPrimaryAssembly", but my primary project was a exe and I wanted to merge dlls into it. I changed this to dll and it worked.
I also changed the Name attribute of the Target element in the target file from ILRepack to ILRepacker. I repeated the steps on another project but it didn't work till I changed that name, so that is also important. The sample target file I was using had ILRepack instead of ILRepacker for the name.

Here is my final target file:

I am finding that even though I have ClearOutputDirectory set to true, it is not removing the dll files from the output dir.
Any ideas how I can get this working?

You have to use the default target file provided with the app to use ClearOutputDirectory. When you provide your own target file, you have to handle it on your own. I think in your case, the default target file should be enough. You can see default target file here.
